What you search for on Google is never anonymous!
You may have heard about this recent news story about the burglars who were trying to crack a safe but couldn’t, so they used Google to find out how. This isn’t the first time Google searches have been used to learn more about a crime that was committed. These types of stories are becoming more common.
There’s a prevalent myth that internet = anonymous, but it’s just not true. I know there are people that will say there are ways of masking your identity online, but the average Web surfer doesn’t know how to do that. It’s amazing to me how many people think they can do or say anything on the internet and it will have no consequences. Don’t forget that even something as simple as a Google query is being tracked.
